“Rituals of Mourning in 19th Century Victorian America” presented by Gretchen Gondek

Gretchen Gondek will entertain with a selection of interesting Victorian Era practices at the Betty Strong Encounter Center at 2 pm Sunday, January 12. Admission will be free; a Tea with sweets will follow.

Join Gretchen Gondek for a retrospective into the fascinating history of rituals practiced by mourning Americans in the 19th Century. This presentation will explore death keepsakes, memorial art, post-mortem photography, music, mourning fashions and funeral cakes.

Gondek is credited with nurturing KWIT radio station from the ground up. She is known for her love of the classical and quirky.

The presentation will be followed by a complimentary Victorian Tea for audience members.
