‘Exploration Wednesdays'

Summer fun continues with 45-minute Lewis & Clark-themed activities for kids, preschool through fifth grade, at l0 and 11 a.m. July l8 and 25, at the Sioux City Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center. Admission and materials will be free.

"Kids will learn how dodging obstacles, a bad sense of direction, and games figured into the expedition," says Sara Olson, the Center's History Education Coordinator. Here's the schedule:

Campfire Stories (geared to the second grade and younger age range)

July 18
"Lost on the Trail": hear a story about getting lost on the L&C Trail,
then play hide-and-seek

July 25
"Game Day":
play Colonial games inspired by the Lewis & Clark Expedition

Junior Explorers (geared to the third through fifth grade age range)

July 18
"Where's Shannon?":
hear what happened to the expedition's youngest soldier, then play "Where's Shannon?" outdoors

July 25
"Game Day":
try out for Colonial games inspired by the Lewis & Clark Expedition
