Center presents Katie Admire in Mother’s Day tribute (May 6, 2008) – The Center will present vocalist Katie Admire in a musical tribute to Siouxland mothers at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 11. Admission will be free.
Katie became known as “Siouxland’s
Idol” when she advanced this season to
semi-finalist on the popular TV show
“American Idol.” Her Encounter Center show will include a range of favorites including hits from Broadway, country and pop music. It also will showcase new pieces she’ll perform publicly for the first time and “The Star-Spangled Banner,” the nation’s national anthem. “I’m super excited about the Encounter Center show and the opportunity to honor all Siouxland mothers with music I know they’ll enjoy,” says the Sergeant Bluff-Luton senior. In addition to her national television appearance, Katie has performed throughout the tri-state area. She won the Nebraska State Fair Galaxy of Stars talent competition; the Colgate Country Showdown in Okoboji, Iowa; and was a semi-finalist in the Bill Riley Talent Competition at the Iowa State Fair.State Fair.State Fair. After graduation this spring, Katie will study music at Belmont University, Nashville, Tenn. She plans to pursue a career in the music industry.
