Center to throw Lewis & Clark birthday party (July 25, 2007) – The Center will celebrate the upcoming birthdays of Captains Meriwether Lewis and William Clark with explorer-themed games, crafts and a birthday cake at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 31 at the Center. Admission and activities will be free for all children, their parents, grandparents and friends. The party will begin with birthday cake served at the park shelter next to the Center. Katie Helling, the Center’s children’s activity coordinator, created the cake design. Explorer games and crafts will follow outdoors and in the Center’s Discovery Gallery. Clark was born on Aug. 1, 1770, in Caroline County, Va., and died in 1838. Lewis was born on Aug. 18, 1774, in Albemarle County, Va., and died in 1809.ed in 1809.ed in 1809.
The Center, exit 149 off I-29, is a
private, non-profit institution built and
sustained by Missouri River Historical
Development, Inc. (MRHD). Admission, all
programs, exhibits and activities are free.
