(June 18, 2007) - The Center will present
the free five-part series “Interpreting the
Natural World” for students, second through
sixth grades, from 9:30 to 11 a.m., June
26-30 in the Discovery Gallery.
Each session will be led by Bill and
Mary Klein. Admission and all materials
will be free. Here is the schedule:
-
“Plants and Animals of the Lewis & Clark Expedition,” June 26: Put on a
pair of magic glasses and see this
country as the Lewis & Clark Expedition
members saw it. Discover what they
discovered and gain an appreciation of
the world around us, including the
Center’s gardens
;
-
“Creatures of the Night,” June 27: Discover some of
the characters and the interesting roles
they play in the drama that unfolds when
the sun goes down and darkness covers
the land;
-
“Secret Life of Plants and Animals,”
June 28: From plants that catapult
their seeds to plants that snag an
insect’s legs, learn some of the amazing
ways plants and animals have adapted to
live in their environment;
-
“Nature’s Rascals,”
June 29: Animals and plants need to survive.
Sometimes how they survive may
cause not only discomfort but real
danger to people;
-
“Eat or Be Eaten – Predator or Prey,”
June 30: “What’s for dinner?”
“Where’s dinner?” “I’m hungry.” If
critters could talk, we’d likely hear
those questions over and over. Learn
some of the unique methods used by
creatures to obtain their next meal.
