(April 3, 2007) – The Center will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, April 3 through 7. It will be closed for Easter Sunday, April 8.

Normal hours will resume on Tuesday, April 10: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday; noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.  Admission, all programs, exhibits and activities are free.

The Center recently installed an exhibit of traditional Lakota games based on artifacts at the Buechel Memorial Lakota Museum. Also on display, are Lewis & Clark Trail photographs by Fr. Don Doll, S.J.

On permanent display are interactive exhibits that invite visitors to join the Corps of Discovery for a day of soldiering and serving as the explorers traveled through what is now the Sioux City area in August 1804. The death and burial of Sgt. Charles Floyd is at the heart of the story.

Visitors encounter hand-painted murals, dozens of interactive devices, and two animatronic exhibits: Captains Lewis & Clark; and Seaman the Newfoundland Dog & the Prairie Dog. The grounds feature the bronze outdoor sculpture Spirit of Discovery which depicts Lewis, Clark and Seaman.

The Sioux City Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center, exit 149 off I-29, is a private, non-profit institution built and sustained by Missouri River Historical Development, Inc. (MRHD). Admission, all programs, exhibits and activities are free and open to all people. For more information, call Marcia Poole, director, 712-224-5242 or visit www.siouxcitylcic.com
